Guest reviews for Diamond Cave Resort & Spa Excellent as always, August 9, 2010
by Louise Langford Visit Date:August 5, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "The resort is a bit tired but as we got an upgrade from old bungalow to main building we were not complaining. Pool OK and 10 minute walk to lovely beaches. Beware of monkeys if leaving anything outside!!!" | April 21, 2010
by Terese Visit Date:March 25, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Bodde i bungalows för 1650 Bath/natten. | Everything worked and we will use this service again., March 3, 2010

by Helena Johansson Visit Date:January 7, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "We had booked a bungalow. Which was ok. Got a problem with a water leak in the AC: n. Hotel manager arranged so that we could change rooms. Was upgraded to a much better place in the hotel section. Recommend to book there instead of the bungalow if you want something better standard. Trivia This was the service a bit so there, not super nice person, but hotel manager who was very service minded. But good location, very pleasant on the east side than the other. Since we only stayed one night in a bungalow so I do my analysis in the hotel room" | Good, January 16, 2010
by Anniken Hagen Visit Date:January 6, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Ok location, the rooms, especially the bathroom, was pretty sad. Good breakfast." | no problem with booking at all., January 10, 2010
by jenny thomson Visit Date:December 29, 2009 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "We stayed for 8 nights over the Christmas period of 2009.The location is perfect, quietly tucked away on the east side, close to some of the bars along the east side but not too noisy at all. We found most of the staff to be pleasent, especially the manager and the girls in the mini market and the cleaners who were pretty good at making a bad bungalow look just about bearable with their flower petal designs and towel sculptures. The pool area is ok, especially to quietly chill out, although it loses the sun at around 3pm and it would of been nice to be able to use their other pool at the private resort (we did use it on one day due to some work going on around the other pool) Much nicer pool and keeps the sun till late. The food at the bottom of the hill/barb q was one of the best at Railay, staff here were very good. Unfortunately we were very unsatisfied with the state of the bungalow. The bathroom was appauling, smelled terrible and in very bad shape. One of the worst I have seen. We had to buy disinfective from the local chemist to mask the odour and to make it bearable to use. Quite poor in comparison to the photos on the website. They are in serious need of updating. The hotel rooms looked pretty good and we met another couple who were satisfied with their condition. Avoid the bungalows though, they really need to sort the bathrooms out.Other than that the place was ok and the price/value was ok. They just need to sort those bunglaows out." | excellent, December 30, 2009
by paul frederick hartley Visit Date:December 16, 2009 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "my wife and i stayed for 3 nights,we booked a bungalow which looked nice on the web site,on arrival we were shown a terrible bungalow not fit for a dog,so we were given a deluxe room at no extra charge but this room didnt look like the web site picture either.the sheets and the bath were dirty the bed was rock hard.the food was terrible, rubbery chicken, full of flies, greasy and the restaurant supervisors were aggressive.my wife became seriously ill,on enquiring about a doctor i was repeatedly mocked for not saying doctor to their liking, they misplaced our passports, the pool was just a rubber liner, this hotel needs closing down." | Sawedee booking very efficient as always!, November 18, 2009
by Stephen Gavin Thomas Mcgeachie Visit Date:November 12, 2009 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Overall an OK hotel, clean and tidy. Interior is abit dated. Located on East Railey at the top of a hill it is abit of a trek too get to with your luggage!! Breakfast was OK but the food was not covered and there was alot of flies around esp in the yogurt!! Feels abit more like apartments than a hotel as there is no kettle, tea, coffee etc and no telephone to ring reception if need be." | January 14, 2009 by Nikki Visit Date:December 28, 2008 "The pictures of the hotel represented on the website looks far nicer than the actual accommodation. The accommodation is also way over priced for what you actually receiving in terms of accommodation in Thailand. This hotel was the most expensive hotel compared to other hotels in Thailand and you received nothing for your money. When complaining about room to the staff, I was given rude and obnoxious comments. They were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel is also on the east side of the Island, so there is not much in terms of views etc." | good on this occasion although I had problems with the site later on in my trip (was trying to book for a future date but the site kept saying the date was in the past!), February 14, 2008 by Martin meredith Visit Date:February 1, 2008 "when I booked this hotel most others in railay were full and the reviews I had read of it were not very complimentry.first impressions of the room were good but it went downhill from there - the air con did not work and the bathroom had a most unpleasant smell, the breakfast was also poor. my advice if you want to stay on railay pick somewhere else or stay in ao nang. " | Excellent, January 29, 2008 by Mr Lee Watson Visit Date:January 7, 2008 "Nice little bungalow most of the most the people are great if you great dropped off at railey west is a long walk. Breakfast there was loads of fly’s not nice." | Very easy to use and had no problems with their system or staff., February 28, 2007 by Ryan Burge Visit Date:February 22, 2007 "After trying to reserve other hotels on Railay with no luck of availability, we decided to stay at Diamond Cave and regretted our decision. The main area of the pool, hotel and reception area is okay but we were led to bungalow #106 and the room was terrible. I read reviews about bugs and we definitely had them on the toilet. I also had to take my towel to dry up the bathroom floor one morning as the shower gets the whole bathroom wet and as I was moving my towel on the floor, a cockroach over almost 2 inches long came running out. Luckily my wife doesn t freak out like most would! The room is very outdated with a hard bed and a disgusting old-school blanket as a bed spread. The whole room is outdated and not welcoming. This was a hotel where my wife and I dreaded going back to the room and did everything we could to stay away. In fairness, I did talk to someone who liked their bungalow so you should look at the rooms before you book. The service I received from the staff was good and they were helpfull and the pool was a needed touch as it was hot out! Overall I would not recommend this place to book online without looking at the rooms. Diamond Private Resort looked a lot better with nice views but you have to hike up a bunch of stairs. We were lucky enough to find an open room at Railay Bay Resort for our last 2 nights and loved every minute of it! I would recommend this resort in all of Railay since they have an awesome beach front pool and have great service." | I would recomend sawadee.com, they handled everything very professionally., February 23, 2007 by Bryan Parsley Visit Date:February 11, 2007 "The hotel is very nice, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Gave up waiting for breakfast and the rooms were not always cleaned. Several days towels were not changed and beds left undone." | reliably and fast, February 4, 2007 by Max Weinfurtner Visit Date:January 10, 2007 "This is really the worst hotel where I ever stayed. Now the reasons:1)The room was moldy, smelly and dirty.2)The bedsheets also smelly and dirty3)In the bathroom the flagstones were outworn4)Hair in the drain from the former customer (it was disgusting)5)The drain does not work so you can stand in the water for a long time6)The same problem is with the basin. (the water does not run off)7)The bathroom has an opening to the outside so you have no possibility to close completely the bathroom door, mosquitoes can come under the slit.8)BUT NOW THE MAIN PROBLEMThere must be thousands of cockroaches behind the wood wall from the bed. The noise after closing the light was incredible. After a while I opend the light and I saw 5 cockroaches on the wall but not the small ones they had about 8-10 cm. We slept with light and after this night we left the diamond cave resort.9)I tried to make a complaint but the hotel employee do not want to hear anything. We paid for a superior bungalow 2500 baht and we got really a hole. The price what you pay and the achievement is an impertinence. This is a disadvantage if you book over sawadee.com because you pay in advance so you do not know what a hole you get from the hotel owner and you have no chance to get your money back. We lost 100 Euro for nothing." | Fine although based on my comments of the above hotel I would not use the service again if you have to pay in full before arriving at the hotel., January 21, 2007 by Steve Phillpott / Sarah Kelly Visit Date:January 5, 2007 "We have just spent 2 weeks at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa - this is, without doubt, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in terms of service, cleanliness and overall value for money. Before you confirm a reservation here I d encourage you to consider my feedback:- We had a bungalow with a/c. The room was damp, with mould above the bed head, and it attracted lots of flies and mosquitoes. - The bathroom drains didn t work - the water did not drain after showers meaning that you had to sit sideways on the toilet or end up ankle-deep in water.- Every morning the bathroom floor was covered with animal droppings - they looked like rat droppings but my partner assured me they were from a gecko. Either way, the cleaners did not properly remove them.- The bathroom tap did not turn off properly and leaked onto the floor under the basin.- Cleaning of the room was irregular and they never left clean towels meaning you had to negotiate with management every time you wanted some.- The TV had only 2 channels - one in Thai and the other a HBO movie channel. When we asked about this we were told that the satellite was being fixed and that normally there are more English channels to choose from. After asking when the satellite would be fixed every day for 5 days one of the staff eventually admitted that there was only ever one English channel. To make matters worse the movie and voices were often so out of synch that the movie would be unwatchable.- We made the mistake of booking the room with breakfast included . The American breakfast they offer for 150 baht each, is nothing short of disgusting. Cordial, not fresh juice, and processed and inedible ham and sausage made this breakfast one of the worst I ve had. I recommend that you do not pay for breakfast here and try other places on the island.- The staff in the restaurant ranged from friendly to rude - unfortunately most were rude. Avoid the place if you want to be treated as a customer should.- The pool was small but clean. However the loungers had no cushions so unless you have plenty of your own padding then I recommend you head to the beach.- The overall surroundings, around both Diamond Cave and the rest of Railay beach are disappointing. Noisy generators are everywhere along with piles of rubbish and burning rubbish. - All of my complaints were ignored by staff and they refused to consider upgrading us or refunding us for the balance of the booking.- Unless you can afford to stay at Rayavadee or like climbing I recommend that you choose an alternative beach in Thailand (or elsewhere!) to stay." | Hotels & Resorts RecommendDestination:Krabi Location:Ao Nang Address:328 Moo 2, T.
